Without them, something was missing. A week is a long time when you don’t know why they’re gone. She sat by the window, eyes fixed on the street, ears sharp. Every passing car made her tail twitch. But it wasn’t them. She waited because love doesn’t forget. She waited because they always came home.

Her Favorite People

She loves us all, but my parents? They are her world. She follows their every move, listens to their voices, waits for their touch. While they were gone, she barely left her spot. Me and my brother tried to distract her, but she wasn’t interested. She longed for them. So, she sat and watched.

The Instant She Knew

Then, at last, she heard it. The sound of their car. Before we even noticed, she knew. Her ears shot up, body tense. Then, all at once, she was moving—wiggling, spinning, her tail going wild. She had waited patiently, and now they were back. In her mind, everything was right again.

A Reunion Like No Other

She didn’t just greet them—she rejoiced. She twirled, bounced, pressed her whole body against them. She soaked in their voices, their hands, their laughter. This wasn’t simple excitement. This was pure devotion. She had missed them with every fiber of her being, and now that they were here, she had to show it.

More Than Just A Single Moment

At first, I thought it was a one-time thing. But then it happened again. And again. Every time they left, she waited. Every time they came back, she danced. It was never a coincidence. This was who she was. My parents were her home, and she would always be watching for their return.

A Love That Never Wavers

Some dogs get distracted. Some move on. But not her. She remembers, she cares, she waits. No matter how long they’re gone, she’ll be there—ears up, eyes searching, heart steady. And the second she sees them, the joy begins again. Because love like this doesn’t fade. It simply waits.
