In May 2023, the world fell in love with a pitbull named Mr. Snufflufugus—Snuffy for short—after a touching photo showed him hugging his foster mom with all the gratitude his paws could hold. Rescued first in Copperas Cove, Texas, Snuffy’s future was uncertain. But six months later, fate brought him to Minnesota, where his real healing—and hugging—began.
From Shelter to Soulmate

Snuffy was initially rescued by Copperas Cove Animal Control, but due to limited resources, he was sent to Pit Squad Rescue in Minnesota. That’s where Stephanie Easley entered the picture. She’d followed Snuffy’s story online and, when he arrived in her city, she didn’t hesitate. “I literally begged to foster him,” she shared. It felt like destiny had stepped in.
Battling Illness with Love

Though his hugs were full of life, Snuffy was battling serious health issues, heartworms, an enlarged heart, and damaged lungs. But under Stephanie’s care and with the support of Pit Squad Rescue, Snuffy fought back. With each treatment, he grew stronger. And through it all, he never stopped hugging the woman who gave him a second chance.
A Foster Bond That Changed Two Lives

Stephanie couldn’t adopt Snuffy permanently—he needed a home without other pets—but her love never wavered. “He’s changed my life in so many ways,” she said. Her mission became clear: to find Snuffy a forever home where he could continue to be his affectionate, snuggly self.
Every Shelter Dog Deserves a Hug Like This

Snuffy’s journey reminds us that rescue dogs don’t just need a home—they need a heart. His story shows the power of love, patience, and second chances. So if you’re thinking of adopting, visit your local shelter. You might just meet your own Snuffy—ready with a hug that says, “Thank you for seeing me.”
