DD Animal News: 13 July, 2025: When a powerful storm swept through Lenexa, Kansas, a local homeowner spotted what looked like a frightened kitten outside their window, braving the rain and wind. Wanting to help, they opened their door—and the tiny animal rushed inside, curling up safely in their living room. But this little guest turned out to be someone very unexpected.

At first glance, the small animal looked like a kitten, but something about its wild, wide eyes and cautious behavior seemed… different. Concerned and unsure, the homeowners contacted Lenexa Animal Control. Officer Logan Dorr arrived shortly after—and instantly confirmed their suspicion. This wasn’t a domestic kitten at all. It was a baby bobcat.

A Wild Visitor in Need of Help

Even though the young bobcat belonged in the wild, Dorr knew releasing him back into the dangerous storm wasn’t an option. The winds were fierce, and the streets were unsafe. So he gently placed the bobcat in a carrier and kept him warm and secure overnight at the station while the storm passed.

The next morning, Dorr’s phone lit up with missed calls. Local residents had seen a bobcat on their Ring cameras—pacing, searching, and clearly in distress. It was the baby’s mother, scouring the area for her missing kitten. Dorr quickly returned to the neighborhood and devised a plan: he brought the bobcat kitten in his carrier outside and played bobcat calls from his phone, hoping to guide the mother to her baby.

A Touching Reunion

Within just ten minutes, the mama bobcat appeared, drawn by the sounds and her motherly instinct. She rushed over to check on her baby, and the two were soon reunited—a touching, wild moment of love and instinct.
