For months, Biggie sat patiently at Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, hoping someone would look beyond his appearance and see the gentle soul inside. Found abandoned more than a year ago, Biggie had passed through several shelters before arriving at Dan Cosgrove, where he quickly stole the hearts of staff and volunteers.
Biggie’s large size and cropped ears—remnants of a rough past—caused many potential adopters to shy away. Despite his sweet, goofy nature, people often made snap judgments based solely on how he looked.
“He used to run up to the front of the kennel to greet everyone, now he just lays on his bed,” Laura Selvaggio Burban, director of Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, told The Dodo in 2024.

On April 28, 2024, Biggie’s patience finally paid off. Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter announced that Biggie had been adopted into a loving forever home.
“We all just want to be wanted… and Biggie is absolutely wanted and thriving with his new family,” the shelter joyfully shared.
