DD Animal News: 12 July, 2025: Sometimes, the smallest animals carry the biggest spirit—and Peabody, the miniature horse, is living proof. Born with multiple disabilities and rejected by his mother, Peabody’s life almost ended before it even had a chance to begin. But one woman’s compassion changed everything, turning what could have been a goodbye into a miracle.
A Heartbreaking Start

Peabody was born with severely crooked legs, a misaligned jaw, and a bite so poor that he couldn’t even chew. His condition was so dire that the vet recommended euthanasia. His original owner, heartbroken but unwilling to give up, reached out for help—and found a guardian angel in Faith San Severino, a certified miniature horse trainer and advocate for therapy horses.
A Lifesaving Rescue Mission
Faith didn’t hesitate. She boarded a flight and traveled across the country to rescue the tiny foal. When she arrived, Peabody was just 16.5 inches tall—small enough to nap in her lap. But despite his size and struggles, there was something in his eyes that told her he wasn’t ready to give up. “All he wanted to do was eat,” she said. “That was my clue that this little horse wanted to live.”
Healing Begins with Love (and Custom Shoes!)

Back at Faith’s home, Peabody’s journey to recovery began. With custom-made shoes and endless care, his legs began to strengthen and his jaw slowly aligned. And he didn’t just find healing—he found joy. He made best friends with Faith’s dogs, running and playing with them like he was one of the pack. “He thinks he’s a dog. I’m quite sure of it,” Faith laughed.
A Bond Beyond Words
But the most unexpected bond formed between Peabody and Faith’s husband, Adam. Every morning, Peabody follows Adam to the door, hoping he won’t leave. Their days are full of fun and their evenings end in cuddles, watching TV side by side. It’s a friendship that speaks louder than words.
Peabody’s Joyful New Life
Thanks to Faith and Adam, Peabody is no longer the horse no one wanted. He’s now a spirited, playful little soul who chews shoes, digs through bags, and brings endless smiles. He was nearly lost—but now, Peabody is living his best (and tiniest) life, loved beyond measure.
